Two (Non Expert) Theories On Adult Children Being Abusive
Inspired by a recent semi viral tiktok by kristencouture530
There’s a tiktok by kristencouture530 going a bit viral where the author makes a delineation between adult children who were abused and those who were ‘really’ abused. It rings pretty disingenuous to me in several ways that short form videos have a tendency to. One is that it’s basic knowledge (or I hope it is) that human beings experience trauma individually. That means what might not be a wound to one person will certainly be a deep wound to another. That’s the beauty and the mystery of humans. As similar as this very persistent plague of estrangement is for all of us, it is unique to us in our individual lives because we are part of a unique group of people experiencing this persistent plague of estrangement uniquely.
When I watched the video, these two thoughts came to mind. These are my two non expert theories on what might be adult children’s abusive behavior:
